More than we expected!
The Edgewater Hotel Gatlinburg has a great location right on the Little Pigeon River in downtown Gatlinburg. The hotel is family owned so you will get the feeling of the southern hospitality when you stay here. There's something at this hotel for everyone; especially for family vacations in the Smoky Mountains.with more than eight hundred miles of hiking trails. The Edgewater Hotel Gatlinburg is on the trolley route, too - so it's easy to get pretty much wherever you want to without a car. We checked into the hotel on a Friday evening. We had a very nice room on the 6th floor with a great view of the mountains, downtown Gatlinburg and the river just below our balcony.
Our room featured very nice furnishings and a spectacular view. There was a small refrigerator - freezer, microwave and coffee maker in our room, which was nice. We splurged a little and reserved one of the specialty rooms with a fireplaces and Jacuzzi. The view from our private balcony was wonderful, we could even see the mountain view without getting out of bed.

The kids really enjoyed the pool area. It was a very nicely landscaped area with a heated indoor/outdoor pool and two hot tubs. It had a very relaxing atmosphere with a small waterfall and mountain stone decor. You can swim from the indoor pool to the outdoor pool under a glass partition which was very unique. The family game room and arcade was a big hit with the kids, too. The fitness room is well equipped, so we didn't have to miss our workouts; though hiking in the mountains is a pretty good workout all on its own!
The Edgewater Hotel Gatlinburg has some pretty nice vacation packages, too. There's a breakfast in bed couples package, for instance. You get a glass of champagne, a Jacuzzi room, and in the morning, you contact the front desk and they deliver the paper and breakfast.

The honeymoon package would be great for a couple, too - private hot tub, a chilled bottle of champagne with complimentary glasses and a candlelight dinner for two. They've also have some great seasonal deals - stay three nights and get free dinner, for instance. Those change a lot, so you should check to find out what the current seasonal deals are before you book.

The Edgewater's staff was friendly and helpful and our check in was quick and easy. Everything always seemed to be clean, neat and orderly in the hotel. There is WiFi service if you bring your laptop, or you can use the computer in the lobby. We really enjoyed our stay in the Edgewater Hotel Gatlinburg, and are looking forward to another trip back!
